Ladies, Ladies, Ladies

Hi everyone!!! If you listen to the Steve Harvey Show you know that is how Nephew Tommy starts out one of his skits. This week entertainment wise has been about the Ladies for me. I saw Dreamgirls the other day and yes to me it was worth the hype. I have loved the song "And I am telling you, I'm not going" since I was 13. It was one of those song that I know I drove my mother crazy with by playing over and over again. Also I'm from the D and a big Surpremes fan so I love seeing the Motown-esqe stuff in the movie. The funny and kinda sad thing about seeing the movie is that a lot of people don't know what a musical is. So when people are singing instead of talking some members of the audience got kinda confused. Another problem was that being that is is Christmas break there were a bunch of teens in the audience and a lot of them seemed to have the attention span of a nat. One of my friend told off one kid because he came into the movie chatting on his cell. He seemed confused by the concept of manners but Lisa straighted him out quick. My second thing is that I finished reading Carl Webber 's new book First Lady it was pretty cool. A nice quick easy read.

My Christmas? It was al'ight

Yeah my Christmas was ok. My Mom who has serious health problems was able to get out of the hospital at least for the day. She had to go back yesterday. Milan and his ex-wife have been beefing for two weeks. They always fight over Christmas and this year she got her way and kept the kids away on Christmas day. The interesting thing is that his ex-wife's mother bought Sarah a cell phone and said she could use it to call her Daddy. Our wedding anniversary is Sunday, New years eve and I am willing to bet that the fight will be over and we will have the kids for the weekend. What you think? Oh well let me show you what the hubster got me for Christmas!!! The 2006 Camera of the year y'all!!

Getting Cozy

Last night when I came home from work. I turned on the tv to see who won America's top model. Then I put on my comfy jamies. Made a little dinner and me and Charlie curled up on the couch to look at tv. Since there was a bunch of re-runs on last night I fired up the tivo to look at a unexpected treat. One of my fav shows had a two hour special. The Closer. I love the Closer. Brenda is loony as can be but ole girl know how to solve some murders.

I'm gonna upload some pictures!!!

Here are some photos of our new home and neigborhood. I also have add a couple of layouts that I have done. Oh and of course some pics of the kids!!! The layouts are from my wedding album. Our two year anniversary will be on December 31st!!

Wow my life has changed.

Well we finally moved. We are renting a house about 20 minutes outside of the city. We were trying to buy but everything fell apart at the last minute and since our house was sold we had to move quick. In fact the house we are renting is almost exactly what I wanted (No second full bath) but I like it much better than the house we were trying to buy. In case you all did not know from the events of the past week racism is alive and well in this country and our experience in real estate was an example of it. Not to give all the boring details but come to find out the guy that was working on our mortgage was holding up the deals of all the African-Americans and Arab-Americans that he was working with. I kept feeling like something was funny but something inside said be still it is all going to work out and of course God took care of us and gave us a great home, with great neighbors. When I get home from work tonight I will up load pics so you all can see the house.

Have not been scraping at all but I do have a scrapespace in the basement. Someone before me was into scraping and built a little corner in the basement to scrap in. Ok gotta go we are bout to close.

Wow it's a sad sorry shame!!!

Man I haven't updated since May. Yikes. Have not been doing a lot of scrapping but still loving it. Still house hunting. Came close but not cigar yet. Milan is done with training and driving on his own now. The money is better than I expected so that is a blessing. Here is some pics of the truck and other summer stuff.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Friday I saw this great play for 10 bucks at the DIA. A local theatre group, Mosaic Youth Theatre put on an excellent performance of a play titled Hasting Street. Hasting Street was the center of the Black community from the 1920's through the mid 1950's. It was wonderful I wish had seen it earlier so I could tell more people about it. Here is an excellent article http://www.modeldmedia.com/features/mosaic44.aspx

It really touched me because it took place in 1946 the year my father graduated from Northeastren High School. The play took place at Miller High which was the first predomently black high school in Detroit. My father grew up near Hastings and had lots of friend that attended Miller. His family was forced to relocate because of urban renewal. (His childhood home 998 E. Ferry is now I-75.) Rick Sperling the Founder and CEO of Mosaic spoke before the play about how when the kid did their reseach before starting to learn the script that the folks they spoke to always would start off saying how wonderful their youth was and how kids today don't know what they were missing. By the end of the conversation they would start remembering how hard it was to be Black in Detroit during that time and say that kids today are so lucky they don't know how good they have it. I've been having that conversation with my father my whole life so I know what I am missing and I know how lucky I am.

This is different

Well Milan has been gone for 18 days. I miss him very much but am enjoying my time alone. It is so strange. My parents raised me to be self sufficient and independent. My husband wants me to depend on him more than I am comfortable with sometimes. To me I feel kinda lazy because he does so much around the house and for me. I was looking at Oprah the other day and Lance Armstrong's ex-wife Kristen was on there talking about how their marriage failed.

A lot of what she says sounded like a little alarm bell for me. My husband personality is so dominating that in order to keep the peace and keep him happy a lot of things go his way. I have stood up for what I have wanted sometimes but I have to fight harder than I like for it to happen. Our biggest thing is something I call "his timetable". This is because what he wants has to happen when he wants it to happen. Sometimes we have been in agreement, sometimes I have barely been consulted. The job change thing is one of those timetable things. I don't mind the change. What I minded is that we really were not finacialy prepared for it. I do belive that God is keeping us covered and I am filled with gratude for His grace.

I guess my other thing is that I am praying so hard that we have found the house that we want to buy. I am so ready to move. The street I live on now is slowly becoming like the street I grew up on. Too many folks hanging on the corner buying and selling drugs. The biggest dopeman on the westside throws a block party every August just a couple blocks from my house. I hope to miss out on that this year. So if anyone reads this please pray for us to be able to sell our current house and move to the other house soon.

I'm truly blessed!!!!

Wonderfully blessed. There is so much that I want to be down about but hearing that song made me realize how much God loves me. My husband, my parents, my friends. I have so much love in my life. Ok I need to be much better at this. A lot is going on. My husband is starting his new job on the 24th. One of my oldest friends her daughter is 15 and has lost her mind. She is staying away from home days at a time. My friend in not Mom of the year by any means but she is not the worst mother out there. Milan and I are seriously thinking of letting both her girls stay with us when we move.

Some good news is that I found a scrapbook store that will scan my pages. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

A Change is gonna come

My husband works for one of the auto companies. He has been looking at what is going on and has decided to make a change. He is taking an educational leave for two weeks starting next week. He is going to truck driving school and he is so excited. I am worried about how those two weeks without pay are going to catch up with us. I hope that it will not hit us too hard.

I am almost finished scrapping my first 8X8 page for a all about me bio page swap. I hope to be able to post it soon.

Today was a cool day. Got to meet one of my favorite authors, Bernice McFaddon her newest book is out titled Nowhere is a Place. I finished it Monday and it is a great book. She is the real deal and I love all her books. She is a skilled and passionate writer and writes a bit like J. California Cooper. If you have a chance please pick up her books. My name is Christine. I am married to a wonderful man named Milan and we have been married for 14 months. I just celebrated my 39th birthday. My interests are photography, reading, interior decorating and I have started scrapbooking which I love. I have two sweethearts as step-children Sarah and Milan and a cat named Charlie. These three are my main photography and scraping subjects.
